Swan Home

The Swan Inn is a traditional village Public House situated in the centre of Wittersham on the Isle of Oxney in Kent and has become the 'nerve centre' now that the local village shops have closed. It has recently been sympathetically refurbished without destroying its two-bar character, a new restaurant and kitchen have also been added.

Entertainment, with the exception of Ray (the landlord), who is proud to announce that he has himself lived in Wittersham since the mid 60's, includes occasional 'live' music and fund raising events - an Annual Conker Competition takes place in the Autumn. In addition to these, Angie runs the village Bonfire Night and Firework display. The Swan Inn is open all day, every day and serves a selection of real ale, keg beers and good value food every lunchtime, evening and all day on Saturday and Sunday's. One of the most unusual features within the Swan Inn is the stillage behind the bar, which holds 4 barrels of ever-changing real ale - quite a rare sight these days, but by far the best way to enjoy a real ale. The pub also hosts an annual Beer Festival in August, when there are 26 real ales to sample, plus real ciders and if you are hungry a Hog Roast and live music to keep you entertained. More recently saw the addition of a Winter Ale festival, held every February, catering for the more seasonal ales, and a Cider Festival, held on the May Bank holiday weekend.

We are in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2009The Swan Inn, which is in the 2009 CAMRA Good Beer Guide, has been awarded the 'Ashford Folkestone & Romney Marsh Pub of the Year 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007' by the local CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Branch in recognition of the superb beer quality. We are also listed in the Good Cider Guide 2006, and have been awarded CAMRA's Kent Regional Cider Pub of the Year for 2008 & 2009.

We look forward to seeing you soon, Ray and Angie
